The “Ammolite” is a registered trade name of gemstones created from ammonite shell. Ammolite is an unusual and one of the rarest gemstone in the world, even rarer than diamonds. It is an organic gemstone like Amber and Pearl. The International Commission of Coloured Gemstones officially recognized Ammolite as an organic gemstone in 1981. Ammolite is the fossilized shell of a sea creature known as Ammonite.

Ammonite fossil shells are found in many places in the world, but they are mined into gem only at Alberta, Canada. Canadian Ammolites exhibits most vivid colours.
