Joanna Grimwood

Joanna was born in Ireland and grew up in the UK and Australia. From a young age she always loved two things more than anything: Talking and shopping! She realised she needed to set her sights high to indulge her shopping habit, and therefore went on to train as an actress and singer. Joanna performed in touring productions all over the UK, Italy and Spain. She then worked as an entertainment host, which led to a position on cruise ships as a Port and shopping presenter. Joanna’s vast experience in the world of Gemstones and jewellery is what drew her to TJC and she is thrilled to join such a wonderful team!

What did you do before joining TJC?
I worked as an actress for many years touring the UK and Europe with various theatre shows. Most recently I worked on luxury cruise liners worldwide as a Port & Shopping TV presenter. I handled everything from presentations, marketing and promotions to retail events, producing my own TV shows and hosting informative gemstone seminars.

What makes you enjoy working at TJC?
I get to indulge my passion for jewellery and gemstones and my love of presenting on a daily basis! Plus the quality and price of the products are fantastic and the staff and crew are truly wonderful

What is your favourite gemstone and why?
I was born in April so diamonds were written in the stars to be the favourite for me! It’s the mesmerising sparkle, the undeniable glamour and versatility that makes me love them. Blue diamonds are my favourite as they are so rare and exotic. A close second would be the rainbow gemstone Ammolite as I have visited the mine and it truly is a remarkable and rare beauty.

Describe your personal style?
Colourful and quirky with a classic edge. I always match my shoes and bag with my outfit!

What is your favourite colour and why?
Coral pink. it’s bright, vibrant and uplifting

Name your favourite restaurant and why?
Terre a Terre in Brighton; Incredibly innovative vegetarian cuisine. As a vegetarian I couldn’t ask for better. Paul Mcartney is a fan.

If you were to travel the world in 80 days, which city would you begin from and why?
It would have to be Miami, Florida because it’s got an amazing vibe, and is where I’ve spent a lot of time over the years with cruise ships. I would start with some boutique shopping in south beach, before enjoying the beach, bars and architecture along Ocean drive. Then I’d head off into the vibrant Florida sunset along the 195 for an epic road trip.

What is your worst ever fashion malfunction?
I think it has to be a pair of iridescent purple trousers and a long blue shiny jacket ensemble that I wore to an audition once. Amazingly it must have worked as I got the job!

Who is your favourite celebrity and why?
Elizabeth Taylor because she was a Hollywood legend and the definition of a true celebrity. Her life was steeped in glamour, drama, elegance and excitement. Plus she had one of the most revered jewellery collections in the world.

What is your best TV show and why?
I love the Apprentice. It’s inspiring. I also love ‘Glee’ for a sheer bit of escapism and to indulge my love of all things musical.

In exactly two words how would your best friend describe you?
Passionate and kind

If you were to be prime minister for three hours, what would you do and why?
Call me a coffee snob, but I would ban instant coffee and see that every work place gets an espresso machine. I would also take every school child in the country to the Theatre and get them away from their Nintendos.

Can you reveal a secret about a fellow TJC Presenter?
Stacy Ellis is a bigger jewellery-holic than I am. She buys something every day!
